Kitchen Manager

As the Kitchen Manager (KM) at 8 Chains North, your primary focus is providing consistent quality food for our guests. The successful KM is innovative, resourceful, excited about food, and genuinely cares about people. Your style is fun but focused and professional. You have confidence, can work on your own, but are very good with people. The KM reports to the Owners and has responsibility for kitchen equipment maintenance, overall safety and cleanliness, food and supply ordering, and overall food quality. The position offers quite a bit of culinary freedom within the framework of what a farm winery can offer. The KM works with the rest of the management team to define goals, drive sales, and develop innovative offerings for tasting room and special events guests.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Professionally and enthusiastically represent the company and brand
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local laws, maintaining accurate inventory
  • Help develop and maintain the culinary menu under farm winery regulations
  • Order and manage appropriate inventory of food, ingredients, and service tools and supplies
  • Keep equipment in good operating order
  • Maintain a safe and clean kitchen and storage environment
  • Develop and maintain food preparation processes and guidelines
  • Train staff on food preparation and cleaning procedures as needed
  • Prepare all food offerings during operating hours on Friday – Sunday
  • Plan and prepare food offerings for special events
  • Complete defined opening and closing duties to ensure safety and cleanliness
  • Help the Tasting Room staff with glass washing when needed
  • Attend weekly management meeting
  • Other duties assigned by Owners

REQUIREMENTS

  • Two or more years of experience in the foodservice industry
  • Self-starter, able to manage yourself
  • Must love interacting with people
  • Must love food and food presentation
  • Must have a strong commitment to food quality
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with Managers and Team Members
  • Must be highly efficient, detail-oriented, well-organized in work habits
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with keeping an inventory
  • The ability and desire to pursue constant improvement and personal growth

HOURS AND SALARY

  • Kitchen operating hours Fridays through Sundays
  • Some holiday weekends
  • Midweek order and preparation (flexible)
  • Starting rate $17.00 per hour plus tip share

Tasting Room Associate

8 Chains North seeks a part-time, year-round Tasting Room Associate. We are a growing winery that prides itself on its Old-World style wines. The winery atmosphere is friendly, casual, and inviting. We are looking for someone outgoing who truly enjoys interacting with guests, is team oriented, hospitality-focused, and wants to learn everything about wine.

  • Professionally and enthusiastically represent the company and brand
  • Greet and interact with customers and manage traffic flow in the winery
  • Pour tastings and educate our customers about our wines
  • Serve wine and food throughout the Tasting Room area, indoors and outdoors
  • Perform opening and closing duties per defined SOPs, including but not limited to: stock wine, bus tables, take out trash and recyclables, and clean glassware
  • Keep the tasting room clean, organized, and functional
  • Work special 8CN and Private functions as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local laws
  • Other duties as assigned by Tasting Room Management Team
  • Have a passionate love of Wine
  • Must love interacting with people and have strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work weekends, evening events, and some holidays
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Professional demeanor and appearance
  • Winery tasting room experience preferred but not required
  • Must be detail-oriented and well organized in work habits

HOURS AND SALARY

  • Starting salary $12 per hour plus tips
  • Part Time
  • Mostly Friday, Saturday, Sunday
